The variety is native to the Slovenian Istria, Goriška Brda, and Vipava Valley regions. In scientific publications, the name «Mužjanka» is considered a synonym for the variety also known as Miljska figa, Mivšca, Miuščica, Črnica, Plavka, and Ravanka.
The plant belongs to the group of single-harvest varieties that produce one crop per season. The leaves are characterized by having 3–7 segments, a dissection degree of 0.45, and an average leaf blade area of about 234 cm².
