Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a local folk selection product, common in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The plant belongs to the two-crop types: the first crop (breba) is sparse and often drops in June without reaching maturity, while the second crop is the main and more abundant one.

The fruits have a light interior, ranging from pink to amber shades, and are characterized by a wide fruit opening (ostiole). In literature, the variety is often referred to as a synonym for the Bjelica group, and in folk nomenclature, the name Morkinja can encompass several regional forms of fig.
