The variety is a hybrid resulting from a cross between the Camino Real and Ventana varieties. Plants possess less vegetative vigor than Ventana, are distinguished by compactness and an upright position, which allows for denser planting.
The berries of the variety are characterized by high firmness and good marketability indices. The variety is capable of intensive fruit-bearing early in the season, which requires control of vegetative growth by the producer.
The variety is sensitive to cultivation conditions, including salinity of the nutrient solution, which can provoke a physiological disorder known as “dry calyx.” Questions regarding resistance to Verticillium wilt require further study.
