Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety belongs to the extra-long staple cotton category. It was developed for adaptation to irrigation farming conditions in the desert regions of the southwestern United States and became the first commercially successful American Egyptian type variety.

Morphological data are limited, however, it is known that the variety demonstrated specific branching characteristics, in particular, the setting of the first fruiting branch on average at node 9 or 13. There is also a separate genetic entity 'Yuma glandless' of the species Gossypium hirsutum, which is a carrier of the glandless gene.
