Variety description

The plant is a herbaceous perennial with semi-woody shoots, the aerial part of which dies back for the winter. The height of the bush usually ranges from 80 to 120 cm. A distinctive feature of the variety is the decorative dark purple or violet oval-shaped foliage.

The flowers are very large, reaching 25–30 cm in diameter. The petals are colored in a saturated pink or ruby-red color with a darker eye in the center. Flowering begins in mid-summer, usually from August, and continues until autumn.

The variety possesses high winter hardiness (zone 4, down to -34°C) and resistance to leaf spot, powdery mildew, and root rot. The plant prefers well-lit places and moist, nutrient-rich soils; it is often used in ornamental gardening as a specimen plant or in compositions.
