The variety is a descendant of the Spratt-Archer and Kenia varieties. It is characterized as a two-row spring barley, which in the mid-20th century was widely distributed as high-quality raw material for malting and brewing.
In agrotechnical trials of the last century, the yield of the variety was assessed as competitive for its time; however, in later comparisons, it was inferior to modern varieties. In various growing conditions, protein content indicators and the amino acid composition of the grain could vary.
Today, this variety is classified as a conservation variety; therefore, parameters such as exact plant height or resistance to modern diseases are not standardized according to current methodologies.
