Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety is a six-row barley of early maturity with a plant height of about 68 cm. At different times, various breeding lines existed under this name, including the British breeding of the 1990s and the Canadian line CDC Falcon, registered in 1998.

In agronomic trials, lodging resistance was noted at the level of the Cobra variety, and disease resistance varied from poor to good depending on growing conditions. The yield of the variety in a number of comparative studies was described as low compared to modern analogues.

The variety was used primarily as a fodder crop, in particular for silage production. It was also widely used as an object of scientific research dedicated to the study of the biochemical composition of grain and its antioxidant properties.
