The Famin variety was obtained by crossing Akcent and CE 597. It belongs to the two-row barley type with standard, non-hulless grain and is intended for the brewing industry.
In studies of malting qualities, the variety demonstrated a malt extract content at the level of 82%. It was also used in scientific work to study straw composition and lignin content, and subsequently became the genetic basis for breeding the Malz variety.
