Iranis is classified as a local variety (landrace). In the scientific community, it is known as valuable genetic material possessing increased soil salinity tolerance and is used in physiological experiments to study adaptation to stress factors, including high salt concentration and increased carbon dioxide levels.
Unlike modern high-yielding varieties, Iranis does not possess characteristics intended for industrial cultivation, such as grain quality indicators or lodging resistance. Research on the variety focuses on its specific physiological features, in particular, the activity of antioxidant enzymes, such as SOD and CAT.
