The variety is derived from the British Goldthorpe, which appeared in 1889. The plant belongs to tall varieties, the height of which reaches 122.9 cm. Externally, it is distinguished by a long straw, nodding ears, and large yellow-colored grain.
Traditionally used as high-quality malting barley, it is currently grown for the production of craft malt and whiskey. The variety is susceptible to lodging due to the significant stem height, possesses lower disease resistance, and is inferior to modern hybrids in terms of cultivation efficiency.
