The spring barley variety Paustian is a representative of the Hordeum vulgare L. crop. It belongs to the mid-late maturity group and is distinguished by a short stem. The variety possesses high lodging resistance, as well as good to high resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew, scald, and leaf rust, with moderate resistance to net blotch.
This variety belongs to the malting type. Its grain has a thousand kernel weight in the medium to high range, and the crop itself is characterized by high density. The variety's genealogy shows a connection to the Zeppelin and Propino lines, and it has also been used as a parental form in the breeding of other varieties.
