The Pax barley variety was bred by the breeding station HORDEUM s.r.o. (Sládkovičovo, Slovakia). In available publications, there is no comprehensive data on its morphological traits, such as plant height or ear type.
During trials conducted in the Czech Republic between 1997 and 2000, the variety was identified as one of the most susceptible to powdery mildew (Blumeria graminis f.sp. hordei). The variety name also appears in scientific papers investigating barley resistance to rust (Puccinia hordei) and in genetic studies as a sample with specific resistance genes.
