The Ardilla variety is an interspecific hybrid derived from Solanum lycopersicum and Solanum habrochaites species. The plant is characterized by mid-season maturity and very strong vigor, which allows it to be used as a rootstock to increase the resistance and development strength of commercial hybrids.

This variety is intended for commercial cultivation, including conditions with contaminated soils, and is suitable for mechanized harvesting. The hybrid is claimed to have resistance to Fusarium wilt caused by F0 and F1 races of the pathogen Fusarium oxysporum.
