The rootstock was obtained as a result of an interspecific cross between Solanum lycopersicum L. and Solanum habrochaites. It is not intended for the production of marketable fruit, but is used as a professional tool for enhancing vegetative growth and increasing the early yield of grafted plants.
The plant is characterized by high resistance to soil-borne pathogens, including Fusarium wilt (including the third race of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-lycopersici), bacterial infections, and nematodes. Due to the characteristics of its origin, the rootstock possesses high tolerance to abiotic stresses and is frequently used as a control standard in international disease resistance tests.
