The variety Fasan (also known as Pheasant or Teller Red) is a dense, upright shrub with a height of 1.0 to 1.6 m and dark green, large, serrated leaves. The inflorescences have a flat lacecap shape with small fertile flowers in the center and large decorative ones along the edges.

The flower color varies from red and purple shades in alkaline soils to blue and light blue in acidic ones. The plant blooms from June to September and has a USDA hardiness zone of 6, withstanding temperatures as low as -23 °C. The shoots of the variety are sufficiently strong, which prevents the bush from lodging.
