Hydrangea aspera 'Goldrush' is an upright shrub up to 200 cm tall with velvety lanceolate leaves that have a golden-yellow hue in spring and a yellow-green hue in summer. The plant blooms in July-August with umbellate inflorescences featuring small lilac flowers in the center and larger sterile flowers on the edges.

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Neyosh' is a variegated form with a yellow margin on the edge of the leaf. The shrub reaches a height of 125 cm in 10 years. The plant forms flat inflorescences with pale pink flowers.

Both types are ornamental crops. Hydrangea aspera prefers partial shade and moist, humus-rich soils with protection from winds. Both varieties have a certain degree of winter hardiness, however, the large-leaved form is more demanding of protection under harsh winter conditions.
