Variety description

The plant is a compact shrub 1.0–1.8 m in height with an upright or rounded crown shape. Leaves are oval, serrated, wrinkled, glossy, and change color from light green to dark green as they mature.

Inflorescences are flat, 7–12 cm in diameter. A distinctive feature of the variety is the double sterile florets located on the periphery of the inflorescence. In acidic soils, the flowers acquire blue or purple shades, while in neutral and alkaline soils, they are pink or lilac.

Flowering occurs from early summer to autumn. The variety withstands temperature drops down to -18 °C. It can be affected by powdery mildew, leaf spot, and gray mold. The variety is classified as an intermediate type between Hydrangea macrophylla and Hydrangea serrata.
