The variety belongs to the lacecap hydrangea group with flat umbel-corymbose inflorescences approximately 15 cm in diameter. The center of the inflorescence consists of small fertile flowers of a purple or dark blue hue, and the periphery is bordered by large sterile white flowers with a bluish or pinkish tint.

The plant is a deciduous spreading shrub with a spherical crown from 0.8 to 2.5 m in height. The leaves are large, dense, and bright green with prominent veins. Flowering continues from July to October.

The variety is hardy, has frost resistance down to -18 °C, and is resistant to winds, including seaside conditions. It tolerates partial shade well, and with sufficient soil moisture, it can grow in sunny areas. It is considered a mutation of the 'Joseph Banks' variety and is close to the wild type of the species.
