The shrub has an upright, rounded form and reaches a height of 100–120 cm; when grown in containers, it often remains more compact. The leaves are broad, ovate, serrated, with a pronounced vein texture; young leaves have a brownish-reddish hue, gradually turning dark green.

Inflorescences are of the «lace-cap» type, although they are sometimes described as semi-globular. Sterile flowers have a pinkish-red or crimson hue, which changes to violet-blue depending on soil pH. The variety flowers on previous year's shoots from early summer until frost, possesses strong stems, and is suitable for cultivation in open ground and containers.
