The shrub has upright, spreading shoots with a height and width of 90 to 150 cm. Leaves are dark green, glossy, simple, ovate in shape with a pointed tip and serrated-dentate margin. Inflorescences are flat, corymbose, consisting of central fertile flowers and surrounding large sterile double flowers.

The color of the inflorescences varies from pink to dark red, however, in acidic soils with a pH of 5.0–5.5, the flowers become violet-blue. The variety is remontant, blooming from early summer to autumn on both old and current year's shoots.

The plant prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soils; it is sensitive to direct sunlight. The variety shows tolerance to urban conditions and salt tolerance characteristic of coastal areas.
