The variety has rounded, dense inflorescences consisting of unique concave, cup-shaped, sterile flowers. The plant has beautiful glossy foliage and reaches a height of 100 to 150 cm.

The flower color depends on soil acidity and varies from lilac-pink shades on neutral and alkaline soils to violet and blue on acidic ones. The flowering period lasts from July to September.

The variety is characterized by lower winter hardiness compared to the species average, which may cause it to not bloom or produce few inflorescences after harsh winters. It was originally used as a houseplant and later became used in gardening.
