The shrub is distinguished by an upright form with stiff, branched shoots that are resistant to lodging under the weight of the inflorescences or during precipitation. The foliage is dark green and large.

The inflorescences have a dome-shaped 'lacecap' type, consisting of central fertile flowers and marginal sterile flowers of a creamy-white shade. Flowering occurs on current-year shoots from July to August.

The plant is winter hardy and prefers fertile, moist, and well-drained soils. It tolerates partial shade well and can develop in sunny areas, provided there is sufficient soil moisture.
