Hydrangea macrophylla 'Vienna Rawi' is a dwarf, densely branched shrub 60–90 cm in height and width. The plant's sturdy, thick stems hold large inflorescences well, which have a greenish hue at the start of flowering and then turn bright pink or blue with a cream-colored center.

The variety is intended for cultivation in containers, border plantings, and small gardens. The plant possesses resistance to powdery mildew, maintains its bush shape, and rarely requires pruning. Flowering continues from early summer to autumn; the variety is suitable for cultivation in USDA hardiness zones 5–9.
