Variety description

The variety is a synonym of Hydrangea involucrata var. idzuensis. Externally, it is a deciduous shrub with thicker and pubescent leaves, as well as larger buds compared to the typical species.

Inflorescences contain both fertile lavender-blue and sterile white flowers. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth and relatively late flowering, which usually occurs in August.

In natural conditions, the shrub can reach 1–2 meters in height. It is used in landscape design as an ornamental plant for shady and moist gardens.
