The cultivar is a hybrid of Iris sophenensis and Iris danfordiae. Flower color ranges from orange-yellow to apricot with pronounced brown or chocolate spots around the crest of the falls. The intensity of the shade decreases as the flower ages.
The plant has a compact habit, sturdy stems, and narrow, quadrangular leaves. Tetraploid forms are distinguished by flower size, which is 25% larger than that of diploid forms. The cultivar is early-flowering and requires well-drained soil and sunlight.
