The variety is a local Italian landrace possessing a certain genetic integrity. It is not a clonal cultivar and was grown as a seedling resulting from open pollination of the Sorrento variety.
The plant is characterized by early onset of fruiting. Regarding walnut blight, caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. juglandis, the variety is classified as moderately susceptible.
The fruits possess high quality characteristics typical of Italian varieties. The nut is used in traditional horticulture and is consumed both fresh and in processed form.
