The Valrex variety was selected from local walnut populations in the Vâlcea region of Romania. The tree possesses medium growth vigor and belongs to the category of early-bearing varieties.
Unlike many other local varieties, Valrex is protandrous, which means earlier maturation of male flowers compared to female ones. The plant is susceptible to bacterial blight.
This variety is also known as a clonal rootstock obtained within the framework of the same breeding work. The physical and chemical characteristics of the fruits are included in variety trials and genetic research.
