The Vasden variety belongs to a new generation of Bulgarian walnut varieties. It was officially recognized in Bulgaria in the early 21st century and developed by breeders at the Institute of Fruit Growing in Plovdiv.

This variety is intended for industrial cultivation. Detailed morphological characteristics, such as plant height, yield performance, and disease resistance, are presented to a limited extent in open scientific publications.
