The variety belongs to the butterhead lettuce group and is also known under the names Nansen's Noordpool, Nansen and Arctic King. The plant forms dense heads of tender and succulent yellowish-green leaves.
Due to its cold resistance, the variety is suitable for obtaining early produce in spring and autumn periods. Seeds germinate within 7–10 days at a soil temperature above 12°C.
