This group is classified as a variety of Lagenaria siceraria and is characterized by a club-like fruit shape. They have an elongated cylindrical shape that gradually widens towards the end, with the diameter at the peduncle usually half that of the opposite end. Plants of this group belong to the long-trailing type and require support for normal development.

The fruits have a versatile purpose. Immature fruits are used in cooking similarly to zucchini for stewing and preparing soups. After ripening, the fruit shell becomes hard and lignified, which allows them to be used as decorative elements or as material for making household utensils and crafts.
