The variety is a hybrid of Leptospermum scoparium 'Crimson Glory' and Leptospermum macrocarpum. The plant is a dense evergreen shrub up to 2.5 meters high and about 1 meter wide with characteristic purple-bronze foliage that retains its color throughout the year.
Flowering is abundant, with bright red or deep crimson-red flowers, reaching its peak in spring. The shrub is hardy, tolerates windy and coastal conditions well, but is susceptible to manuka blight and sensitive to severe frosts.
The plant is used for creating hedges, screens, border plantings, or as an accent plant. To maintain a compact crown and stimulate flowering, annual pruning of up to one-third of the growth after the flowering period is recommended.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
