The Barberia variety is a hybrid that occupies a distinct position and is genetically only distantly related to classic Italian ryegrass. The plant is characterized by a very early heading period and the ability to regrow rapidly after mowing.

The plant possesses high heat tolerance, which allows it to maintain productivity during the summer period. The variety does not contain endophytes, which eliminates the risk of livestock poisoning. The period of stand use is 3–5 years, making it suitable both for overseeding and for creating pastures in regions with dry summers.
