The variety is diploid and possesses high yield, especially in the first cut and in the first year of use. Plants are characterized by very early development in spring and a prolonged growth period in the autumn. The variety maintains high sward density and tolerance to frequent mowing or grazing.

Barelli plants have resistance to crown rust and are distinguished by high nutritional value. Due to the high dry matter content and good levels of water-soluble carbohydrates, the variety is well-suited for silage or hay production. Applications include the establishment of forage lands, use in grass mixtures, and short-term grazing systems.
