The variety «Gigant» (or «NFG-Gigant») is a historically known variety of forage grass in European agronomic research. It was included in official lists of perennial ryegrass varieties and was considered as a component of grass mixtures or pure stands.

The plant is distinguished by high persistence, ensuring the longevity of the sward. In the course of studies, the variety demonstrated low susceptibility to alfalfa mosaic virus, white clover mosaic virus, and bean yellow mosaic virus.
