The variety is a tetraploid representative of the species (2n=28). Due to its genetic structure, it possesses high resistance to mechanical stress, making it suitable for use in mixtures for sports fields and overseeding to increase sward density.

The plant has increased tolerance to drought and forms a deeper root system compared to diploid varieties. Seedlings are capable of emerging at temperatures from +4 °C, and the variety as a whole is characterized by rapid regeneration after damage or drought periods.

Tetraploid plants of the Tetraboom variety are distinguished by large cells and a high content of water-soluble carbohydrates. The variety is included in official state lists of turf grasses.
