Tetrelite is a tetraploid (4N) form of ryegrass classified as intermediate ryegrass. The variety is intended for agricultural use in pasture mixtures, as well as for hay, silage, and haylage production. Due to its tetraploid nature, the plant possesses large cell size, high growth vigor, and good palatability for livestock.

The variety is characterized by rapid stand establishment and high nutritional value, which contributes to animal milk productivity. In agronomic studies, features of mineral composition were noted, in particular, a lower level of magnesium absorption compared to a number of other varieties. Tetrelite has historically served as a base material for breeding more disease-resistant and winter-hardy varieties.
