The variety Swallow is the result of breeding crosses between perennial ryegrass and Italian ryegrass. The plant is characterized by a combination of high yield and forage quality with increased cold tolerance, typical of hybrid forms of this crop.
The variety is intended for use in forage production, in particular for establishing seeded meadows and pastures for the purpose of obtaining green mass, hay, or silage. In official registers, the variety is classified as a forage grass.
