The rootstock is characterized as dwarf or semi-dwarf depending on the budding height: when the operation is performed at a level of 20–25 cm, trees become more compact; at a level of 10–15 cm, they show signs of a semi-dwarf. The material is valued for high rooting ability in stool beds and good compatibility with most apple varieties.

The plant possesses high winter hardiness, withstanding soil temperatures down to -16 °C, and is also distinguished by drought tolerance and disease resistance. Due to a not very strong root system and wood brittleness, trees on this rootstock often require the use of supports or trellises to prevent breakage.
