The tree of this variety is characterized by high vigor and an upright crown shape with medium productivity. The variety is late-maturing: harvesting occurs in October; due to short fruit stalks, the fruits are prone to shedding and require ripening off the tree.

Fruits harvested green ripen over two months in special areas covered with straw or wood shavings, where they acquire a bright red color under the influence of the sun. The fruits are of medium or small size, round-flattened in shape with smooth waxy skin, and firm, juicy flesh with a sweet-and-sour taste.

The variety is a historical local type characteristic of the Campania region and has protected geographical indication status. It includes clones such as Standard and Rossa del Sud.
