CHIANELLA is a rare ancient folk selection variety originating from Southern Italy. The tree has medium vigor, a spreading crown, and reddish-brown branches. The leaves are medium-sized, elliptical in shape with serrated margins, dark green on top and light green on the underside.
The fruits are medium to medium-large in size, weighing from 70 to 230 g, with a flattened or obovoid shape. The skin is waxy, yellow-green with an intense red blush and purple hues. The flesh is white, firm, and juicy, with a soluble solids content reaching 14.64 °Brix.
The variety is classified as late-maturing, with harvest taking place from the end of October to the middle of November. The fruits are suitable for both fresh consumption and culinary processing. The taste is described as balanced, sweet and sour.
