The variety belongs to the winter apple group. The fruits have a pleasant sweet and sour taste and a characteristic aroma. It is found under the synonyms Damasonka, Damasonska reneta, Kosmač, and Kosmačka.

This variety was traditionally grown in extensive high-stem orchards. The fruits were historically used for making cider, vinegar, jams, drying, and also for distillation. Currently, the variety is considered an object for the conservation of genetic resources.
