The tree of the Dayton variety is medium-sized with a broadly rounded canopy of medium density, growth type is upright. Fruits are large, weighing 170–210 grams, oblate-round in shape, sometimes with slight ribbing. The primary skin color is pale green or pale yellow, almost completely covered by a bright or dark red blush.

The fruit flesh is pale cream in color, juicy, firm and fine-grained, the taste is balanced, mildly acidic, sweet. The variety is self-incompatible and requires pollinators, prone to regular bearing. Harvesting takes place at the end of August or beginning of September, fruits are stored in a refrigerator for up to 6 weeks.

The variety possesses high frost resistance, withstanding temperature drops down to -35 °C. It possesses pronounced resistance to scab, powdery mildew, as well as some types of spotting and rust, which allows for reducing the number of chemical treatments in the orchard.
