The variety is traditional to the Touraine region in France. The fruits are intended for culinary processing, including drying and juice production. The variety received its name due to the cylindrical shape of the fruits, which resembles a barrel bung.

The fruits are small in size, yellow-pink in color, with juicy white fine-grained flesh, the taste of which is described as sweet with a hint of acidity or neutral. The consumption period begins in November, however, the fruits can remain on the tree until March.

The tree is characterized by early bearing and a tendency to form a drooping, "weeping" crown. The height of the plant, depending on the rootstock and training, ranges from 1.00 to 3.00 m.
