The variety is an accidental seedling discovered in the vicinity of the town of Bad Doberan in the mid-19th century. The tree is characterized by medium vigor.

The fruit belongs to winter varieties; harvest maturity occurs in mid-October, consumer maturity from November to January, with the possibility of storage until March. The fruit surface is rough, covered with russet dots and patches. The flesh is juicy, with a distinct aromatic flavor.

The variety is used for dessert and processing. It is currently considered rare and belongs to varieties that are at risk of extinction.
