Fruits are medium-sized, green-yellow in color, have a short peduncle, and 'stellate' russeting in the cavity. The variety possesses a pleasant aroma, however, the fruits are sensitive to mechanical damage and tolerate transportation poorly.
The tree is generally resistant to diseases, but the fruits can be affected by scab. The variety shows a tendency toward biennial bearing. Successful cultivation requires moist soils and warm locations protected from the wind, as fruits become smaller on dry and sandy soils.
The variety was traditionally grown in orchards and was popular as a dessert apple. Currently, it is more often found in old extensive meadow orchards.
