Gibson Golden Delicious is a selection strain of the Golden Delicious variety. The main difference lies in the improved characteristics of the fruit skin, which possesses increased resistance to russeting compared to the parent variety.

The fruits are characterized as large, very sweet, with firm cream-yellow flesh. The tree is distinguished by a vigorous, strong growth habit and a spreading crown. The crop matures at late dates, usually in late September or the first half of October.

The variety is intended for fresh consumption and culinary processing. The tree is a good pollinator for other apple varieties, while also requiring the presence of pollinator varieties in the orchard to produce its own crop.
