The variety is the result of long-term selection and natural adaptation of the Golden variety to specific climatic conditions that promote the formation of a brownish-russet net on the fruit. It is an autumn variety with fruits ripening in the second ten-day period of September.

The fruits are large in size, with juicy and crunchy white flesh, sweet taste, and slight acidity. Due to the characteristics of the skin, the variety shows increased resistance to fungal diseases, in particular to scab, which allows for a reduction in the number of chemical treatments.

Agricultural techniques include mandatory winter pruning and fruit thinning. The Red Chief variety is recommended as a pollinator. The storage period for the fruits is 60–70 days; the variety is classified as a table variety and is valued as a traditional local fruit.
