The "Katka" variety in the context of Czech breeding is not an independent commercial variety, but rather genetic material that was used as a parent form in the breeding of other apple varieties, such as Rajka and Aneta.

The frequently encountered "Katja" (or "Katya") variety is of Swedish origin and was obtained by crossing James Grieve and Worcester Parmän. It is a tree of medium vigor, reaching a height of about 4 meters.

The fruits of the "Katja" variety have a round-conical shape, an average weight of 110 to 180 grams, and are covered with an intense red blush. The fruit flesh is juicy, and the taste is sweet and sour. The variety is a summer variety, ripening in August, suitable for fresh consumption, and stores for up to two months.

Trees of the Swedish "Katja" variety possess high winter hardiness and demonstrate resistance to scab and powdery mildew.
