The Pommerscher Krummstiel variety is a vigorous tree with a crown that becomes pendulous and umbrella-shaped with age. The fruits are large, rounded, ribbed, and greenish-yellow in color with a red blush. This is a winter variety; harvest maturity occurs in October, and the fruits are suitable for consumption until February.

The Rheinischer Krummstiel variety produces medium-large fruits with smooth yellow-red skin. The fruit flesh is whitish, juicy, and moderately firm, possessing a spicy flavor. This variety is used as a table apple and is also suitable for juice production.
