The variety was obtained in 1986 as a result of crossing the Cortland variety and a scab-resistant small-fruited seedling. The tree is characterized by weak growth and downward-curving branches, and is distinguished by good winter hardiness and yield.

The fruits are small, slightly elongated or round in shape, with red skin. The flesh is firm, juicy, and has a sweet and sour taste. The variety is classified as a small-fruited apple tree suitable for processing into juices, cider production, and culinary use.
